The child which is full of innocence, untouched and uncontaminated by the evil of egoism, is considered to be spark of divinity. The teacher should consider teaching a child as a selfless and dedicated service to divinity. This act of giving spiritual. Intellectual and moral enlightenment to innocent children is an offering of flowers of knowledge to God and is an essence form of Dasoha.

"Teaching and learning for the sake of livelihood is just an ordinary life. Teaching and learning not only for the sake of livelihood, but also for the welfare of others is a good cultured life. Teaching and learning not only for the sake of livelihood, serving humanity is serving God, is Kayaka Dasoha Philosophy of education of our institutions.

The students, members of the staff and all those who are associated with Shree Sharanabasaveshwar are living and learning where the great saint left the legacy of Dasoha Philosophy

Beacon Light Then, The Same Today, Shree Sharanabasaveshwar lived a way of life called Dasoha.

Dasoha stands for an assemblage of finest constituents of human behaviour and virtue. It is compounded of humanity, service, understanding, love, self-abnegation - whole range of virtues with which we are familiar. It not only cures the society but also enables the human spirit. It excels because it sees God in man and animals. It acknowledges his presence in all creation glorify him. Sharanabasaveshwar Dasoha Bhava (Spirit of living) is at once both an acorn and oak of universal philosophy for amelioration of mankind.

Shree Shanranabasaveshwar served humanity thinking that serving humanity is serving God and thus his life was dedicated to the servide of the suffering millions. He led Dasohalife in all aspects i.e., in healing the moral, spiritual wounds of the toiling and moiling masses in feeding the poor, in wiping the orphan's tears, in soothing and guiding the sinner, serving sick and curing the diseased by his extraordinary blissful spiritual blessings. Sharanabasaveshwar demonstrated to the world both by example and by precept external values and virtues of life, its essentials of goodness and oneness, exhorted all around him to drink deep at the fountain of God's abounding grace and live in peace and at amity, mutual co-operation and unity, transcends all the artificial barriers of caste and creed that divide humanity into small fragments and discorded groups and collected under his banner of Dasoha. Devotees from all castes and creeds including Muslims, floked his place of service. Many a miracles are attributed to him.

he said to have brought back the dead to life, and a life to a spiritual life. To have resorted sight to the blind and cured incurable diseases with his blessings and giving vibhuti both by physically and spiritually.

he was delighted to take suffering from others and joy that comes from helping others. So on his punyatithi, mankind has to pledge and learn the spirit of giving and caring for affected members and helping the needy people i.e.dasoha

even to this day people from far and wide flock to his dasoha mahamane and Samadhi for fulfillment of their heart's desire. To help others is dasoha, he who helps others alone gets his desire fulfilled. He was a beacon light to his time and even today his message of dasoha is the kindly light that illuminate of millions his devotees amid and encircling gloom of earthly life. His spiritual existence and his dasoha life and philosophy culturally and traditionally continued by his s u c c e s s o r. d e s c e n d a n t p o o j y a Dr. Sharanbasavappa appa, 8th mahadasoha peethadipati. Dasoha as a path and as a way of life. In 1918 mahadasohi Dodappa appa established the Sharanabasaveshwar public library the heralding the dawn of the Sharanabasaveshwar vidya vardhak sangha. His purpose was to awaken the people of this area to the spirit of nationalism, organisation, social unity and the significance of independence. This area which was denied exposure to any new and modern idea, Appaji provide literary books of the people by opening the public library. In this way he awakened independent thinking, patriotic feeling and the spirit of nationalism. The Sharanabasaveshawar Vidya Vardhak Sangha marched ahead to dispel the darkness of ignorance. Attracted by these actions and projects of Appaji many patriots, political leaders, freedom fighters and social workers were coming to Appaji to get guidance from the places Hyderabad, Solapur, Osmanabad, Barsi and other places. Thus, the Mahadasoha Peeth of Sharanabasaveshwar Samsthan became center of thoughts.

Lokmanya Tilak spread the spirit of Nationalism in the people by arranging lectures at the Ganesha festivals. Similarly, Doddappa Appa rendered great service to the development of Kannada literature, Kannada culture and Kannada Dharma, through the lecturers arranged as a part of the 'Nada Habba' celebrations. Respected B. Shivamurthy Swamy, Dr. B. R. Bendre, Dr. Jayadevithai Ligade, Jolada Rashi Doddanna Gowda, S. Nijalingappa, Sardar Pancavva TAiji Sholapur, Dr. Basawaraj Nagur, Dr, Nandinath, Shilpi Linganna such well known literary figures, freedom fighters and intellectuals participated in these programmes and delivered lectures.

The patriotism and the profound love for the language of Mahadasohi Doddappa Appa was considered anti-national by the trators and the rulers. Therefore the fantic traitors attacked the Sharanabasaveshwar Samsthana. Doddappa Appa rendered yeoman service to the freedom struggle. Therefore the news of the attack to the Mahadasoha Peetha echoed in the congress session which was being conducted at Belgaum under the Presidentship of Mahatma Gandhi. Resolution unanimously condemning the attack was passed in the session. The Ali brothers were sent to Gulbarga to study the attack. Later, on 21-1-1925 Mahatma Gandhiji came to Gulbarga seeking an audience and blessing of poojya Appaji and consoled him. Appaji believed that service to nation is service to God; so he generously contributed to the Tilak Fund which was being collected by Gandhi.

The Nizam who heard about Mahatma Gandhiji's visit to Gulbarga and offered his respect and devotion to the Samadhi of Mahadasohi Sharanabasaveshwar, the great saint. Paying a visit to Doddappa Appa he said "It was an unfortunate thing that an attack was made in my kingdom and in the presence of my police" He also promised to give money as a compensation for any loss sustained. Poojya Appa said "The devotion offered by the people of all societies is the same. Therefore, it is enough if you can see that harmony and co-existence are maintained and such disasters do not occur again" saying this, he consoled the Nizam.

Appaji believed that spiritual attainment is the basis of independence. Therefore he never failed to perform the "Trikala Ishtalinga Pooja" or "Guru Jangama Dasoha" even in the most critical ossacions. On the occasion of the attack made by the fanatics and also the tyranny of the Razakaras many people from Gulbarga fled to Solapur to save their lives. There Shri. Nagappa Afzalpurkar a relative of Mahadasohi Doddappa Appa, along with NAgappa Madeppa Kadadi and family, Jayadevi Tai Ligade, Warad and Madaki families joined together and arranged food and shelter for thirsty to forty thousand refugees gathered there. These families from Solapur rendered great service and co-operation for the freedom struggle of the country and also the liberation of Hyderabad, Karnataka. At This time Doddappa Appa was living with his family in Solapur. He wanted that traditional Pooja to be continued in Mahadasoha Peetha. So he sent his fourteen year old eldest son Sharanabasavappa Appa along with respected Shri Siddalinga Swamy to Gulbarga. Unmindful of physical dangers and dedicated totally to the worship of shiva, Sharanabasavappa Appa came to the Peetha and maintained the continuity of the noble tradition of Pooja. Then itself Doddappa Appa identified the future Peethadhipati (Successor) in his eldest son. Shri Aurobindo was born in 15th August. He was a saint who was determined to attain the independence of the country by his spiritual strength. On 15th Aug. India became independent as if it was Aurobindo's premonition Similarly on the same day on which the fantics attacked the Sharanabasaveshwar Samsthana, the Nizam dominion came to an end giving rise to the Hyderabad Karnataka area. We must see that this was the intention of Doddappa Appa. When we perceive such events we can understand how strong was the determination of these great souls.

On August 15, 1947 India became independent. But the people of this are remained in slavery because Hyderabad state did not join Indian union. Again Doddappa Appa had to work for the unification of Karnataka through his Samsthana. The traitors knew that this Samsthana had a major role again traitors kept a vigilant watch over the Sharanabasaveshwar Samsthan.

Poojya Dr. Sharanabasavappa Appa, 8th Mahadasoha Peethadhipati has been emphasizing the need of providing benefits of modern high technology to the students in particular and people in general of this backward region of the state and ventured in introducing such courses of modern day requirements in the schools, colleges run by the Sangha under the benign blessings and guiding genius of Pooja Dr. Sharanabasavappa Appa, the Sangha blossomed into a huge educational complex with fifteen colleges, three high schools, three primary schools and Sharanabasaveshwar Public School, and independent Printing Press, Doddappa Appa IAS Training Institute, Granthavishwa Vidyanilaya and Anubhava Mantappa which arranges series of lectures on art, literature and culture. Poojya Appaji is also the moving force behind the construction of library building a beautiful well equipped auditorium and the Public School is blend of ancient and modern art and architecture. Further, the Post-Graduate course in drawing and painting, Post-Graduation Diploma in Business Management, C.A foundation course, Vocational Degree Courses (UGC Scheme) in the subjects like communicative English and Hindi, Advertising and sales promotion, instrumentation, Industrial Chemistry and Insurance, Diploma Course in clothing and embroidery, Computer Technique and Electric Motor wiring, Radio and TV servicing etc. are all the results of thevision and dynamism of Poojya Dr. Sharanabasavappa Appaji. The library facilities in all of our institute are better than that of University in respect of collection of books, subscription to journals, easy access to the students and serene environment exist in the library.

Lord Sharanabasaveshwar's successor Poojya Dr. Sharanabasavappa Appa, the 8th Mahadasoha Peethadipati of Sharanabasaveshwar Samsthan has tried to blend the ancient Indian Spiritualism with a dynamic pragmatism of the modern times and has grafted the western high-technology and modern ideas to the cultural heritage of India. He has always tried to explore new horizons of educational progress and diversification with his vision and dynamism. In thought, words and deeds he has tried to symbolize the spirit of Dasohabhava the supreme form of dedication and selfless service. The educational philosophy of Poojya Dr. Sharanabasavappa Appa describes the spirit of Dasohabhava which implies that the offerings of one's self and ones service should be in the form of Anjali to God. This spirit which is practiced individually has been institutionalized by him. This enlightened Dasohabhava Vachanas composed by him explain his interpretation of concept of Dasoha.

Among the 21 Dasoha Sutras composed by the Poojya Dr. Appaji the following the one Dasoha Sutra.

Knowing the Secrets
of Veda, Sastra, Agma, Gita, Purana
That is nothing but dasoha.
When you know the holy writings
of Buddhists, Jains, Sikh, Nirankaris
That is nothing but Dasoha.
When you know the secrets
of Christ, Zoroaster, Mohammed
That is nothing but Dasoha.
And all the ancient saints,
Sharanabasava and other honly ones,
Having studied the vachans
Conversed with the Sharanas.
In some their conclusions are
nothing but Dasoha.
"All that surrounds us
is the dwelling - place of the Lord"
So the world is a temple
and the secrets of all religions
Found withing
are nothing but Dasoha.
Seeing the spirit of Dasoha,
Everywhere, in everything,
is the universal religion.

Mahadasohi Sharanabasava.

Dasohi:
One who has learnt to give.

Dasohi:
One who inspires others to give,
and when, his examples is well practiced in the world,
Then he is called a perfected dasohi.
A dasohi wishes good for all beings,
And he is messenger of peace,
Mahadasohi Sharanabasava
So expects us to serve.

The relationship between the teacher and the taught is characterized by duality as well as unity. That is to say though the teacher teaches the students, as a separate entity is ultimate objectives is to rise the pupil to the height of his or her own excellence making him or her one Gurukula and spread knowledge all round. There may be two lamps but the light they emit is one. This way of providing knowledge is upanished. The two faces of Lord Sharanabasaveshwar symboilize the same philosophy.

In this sense Poojya Appaji calls the imparting of education as Jnana Dasoha. He has thus added a new dimension to the modern philosophy of education. It is his ardent desire that all centres of education should become centers following educational philosophy of Dasoha and Kayaka and carry on the nobel mission of enlightening people everywhere. He is deeply concern with the task of creating a generation of young men and women imbued with the nobel values of life.

In our institute we inculcate "Dasoha-Bhava" i.e., Service moto, while training young budding business administrators. To any administrator, service motto is must, let it be business administration, civil administration, health service administration or educational administration. The staff and students of our institute are the embodiment of Dasoha philosophy.

In recognition of the noble services rendered by Dr. Appaji Govt. of Karnataka honored him with Rajostava Award and Gulbarga University awarded D.Llt. in the year 1992. Gokhale education society, Nasik which is pioneer in management education felicitated Poojya Appaji and awarded "Punyashlok Shiva - Parvati adyatmik award" on 4th March 2002 at its nasik campus, also Dr. Appaji was felicitated bySiromani Gurudwara Prabhanaik Committee (SGPC) at Golden Temple, Amritsar.
